The focus of our research has been on the wood degrading enzymes (xylanases, cellulases, acetyl xylan esterases, and laccases). One strong research area has been Fab-fragments of IgG antibodies. We have determined several structures of testosterone-binding Fab-fragments. In addition, we have determined medically important protein structures, for example the crystal structure of human lysosomal aspartylglucosaminidase. The mutation in the gene encoding for this enzyme may cause a several disease called aspartylglucosaminuria which may results in mental retardation. We have determined the structure of major bovine allergen Bos d 2, and we have just started a new research project in order to determine the crystal structure of Alzheimer amyloid precursor protein.
