Catalysis has deep roots in Northern Europe. In fact,
it all started in Sweden. In 1835 Jöns Jacob Berzelius wrote
in
his “Annual Report”, in which he summarised and
critically reviewed the
scientific work done all over the world, about a number of reactions
which take place in the presence of some substance which remains
unaffected. The concept of catalysis was born.
