ECTS study credits
The course entitles to 8 ECTS credits after passed examination. Additional 2 ECTS can be obtained by presenting a seminar during the course. For details, please contact the course coordinator.
Course material
The participants should have some basic knowledge of paper surface treatment. Reading of chapters 1,4 and 14 (pages 462-471) from the book Pigment Coating and Surface Sizing of Paper, ed. J. Paltakari, Paper Engineers’ Association/Paperi ja Puu Oy, 2009, ISBN 978-952-5216-27-1 is highly recommended. Print and e-book versions of the book are available at Papermakers' Wiki Bookstore. Those unfamiliar with pigment coating, or wanting to refresh the basics, are encouraged to attend the pre-course refresher lecture Pigment Coating 101 - Introduction to Pigment Coating of Paper.
Copies of slides and other material will be distributed during the course.
