Anyone can borrow books from the Turku
Public Library free of charge. In order to obtain a
library card, you have to fill in an application and
present proof of identity. This you can do at the
library or online. If books and other materials are
not returned by the due date, overdue fees are
charged.
It is also possible to borrow different types of
recordings and electronic material from the
public libraries. The public library also offers a
variety of newspapers.

2.9 IT Facilities
Åbo Akademi University has its own Computing
Centre
(Datacentralen)
which provides the
university's staff and students with IT services
free of charge. The Computing Centre maintains
and develops programmes, gives instructions and
information about the use of PCs and develops
data-processing within the university in general.
The PCs and terminals managed by the university
are linked to a local university computer network
and to the catalogue databases of the university
library. Registered students, staff, researchers and
also visiting researchers can get access to the
IT facilities at the university. In order to use the
computer network you will need a user account,
which is supplied by the Computing Centre.
