Föreningen Biotica vid Åbo Akademi r.f.

Historia

Biotica is the student association for students in biochemistry and bioscience here at Åbo Akademi University. Our association is quite young - created in the spring of 1977 (we celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2007).

Until 1992 the students of the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacy majoring in pharmacy were members of Biotica, but now they belong to an association of their own called Ex Tempore.

Since 2002 the students majoring in bioscience also have got their own association, called Biosense, but can choose to become members of both Biotica and Biosense.

We aren't that big an organisation as they come, but we are active and our members partake in most large (as well as small) happenings around campus and otherwise here in Åbo (Turku).

Besides going to all these happenings we arrange a lot of activities of our own. Parties with other student associations and clubs, study-excursions near and far, and lots of other things as well.

We also take part in the sports arranged by Åbo Akademi University and the Student Union of Åbo Akademi (Åbo Akademis Studentkår) - for some years now we have been proud to have a floorball team of our own. We've also gone to play baseball and do some bowling when we've been able to scramble together enough interested to form teams.

We collaborate with many other student associations, not just the ones at Åbo Akademi - but with Turku University (Turun Yliopisto) as well.
