ChemWeb | ChemSketch | Moodle | TPK AramidAramid fibers are a class of heat-resistant and strong synthetic fibers. The name is a shortened form of "aromatic polyamide". They are fibers in which the chain molecules are highly oriented along the fiber axis, so the strength of the chemical bond can be exploited. Here are two examples of polyamindes. The left one is made from hexamethylendiamine and terephthalic acid. The right one is made from hexamethylendiamine and isophthalic acid. Use the mouse to rotate the molecules. With the other mouse button you'll get the menu. The middle button zooms. More about Jmol is the web: http://jmol.sourceforge.net A list of all molecule examples in these pages. by Maria
