An idea for a project: “Religion and the family”

We, Anna Davidsson-Bremborg, Curt Dahlgren and Gunilla K. Hallonsten, all from Centre for Theology and Religious Studies at Lund University, will present an idea for a project with the title ”Religion and the family”.
Our ideas about a project will be discussed in the session Social capital and religion. Each of us will make a short presentation of the project. Furthermore, we invite interested researchers to not only discuss the topic, but also join the project.
During the last decades the family has been widely discussed on the public arena, especially regarding new family constructions. In the research of sociology quite a few studies of parenthood has been made. We have, however, until now not found that very much have been done on the interrelationships between religion and religiosity on the one side and the family on the other, and how, or if, these interrelationships are connected to aspects of cultural and social change.
