Museum Musicology
The Sibelius Museum includes a historic music archive with roots in the collection of the founder Professor Otto Andersson. The archives are extensive and contain a variety of individual collections. The main collection includes archives from both the private collections of musicians and public music organisations. The collections include a variety of materials, for example manuscripts, handwritten and printed sheet music, letters, rare prints, newspaper clippings, recorded music etc. Particularly good documentation exists for two major figures in the history of Finnish music: Jean Sibelius and Otto Andersson.
