The Nordic Association for English Studies exists in order to advance research and study in the Nordic countries of the English language and of Anglophone literatures and societies.
It seeks to achieve this aim
primarily through the holding of triennial international
conferences in the Nordic countries. The most recent conference
was in Uppsala in 2013.
Individual voting membership in the Association is open to any person active in the field of English studies in university-level departments responsible for the teaching of English in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Information of interest to the membership is circulated to contact people within departments responsible for the teaching of English in Denmark, Iceland and Norway, and through the Finnish Society for the Study of English (FINSSE) and the Swedish Society for the Study of English (SWESSE). Information also appears on this web site.
NAES is affiliated to ESSE, the European Society for the Study of
English.
