My Secret Life

So you couldn't resist the temptation! OK, here goes: I have been exposed to a fatal dose of
J. R. R. Tolkien at a tender and impressionable age, and those bits about the young swordsmaiden
Eowyn defending the dying king with HER sword just did me for good .... I couldn't use her sword,
but I'm pretty handy with bokken. I took my shodan in aikido in 2000, and I also have some
rudimentary experience of jujutsu, ninjutsu, two kinds of karate and some even weirder martial
arts, such as the fighting fan (now THAT is a sexy weapon if I ever saw one) so be nice to me ...

• Personal: I am a rigorously unromantic creature. I have some basic instincts, though.
• Ethics: I've been a vegetarian since the fall of 1982. I don't eat my friends.
• Religion: I believe in Aslan (The Great Lion, NOT to be confused with
  the twist-homosexuals-inside-out-group!!) and I hope that Aslan believes in me …
• Reading: Contemplative science fiction, novels from the 19^th and early 20^th century. I prefer
  to read the original texts in Finnish, Swedish, English, German, Italian and Latin.
  (That does not, unfortunately, mean very many books in German, Italian or Latin …)
• Ambition: to be able to read the Greek classics (and the Japanese whatevers) in original ...
  and to be able to read something a bit more demanding than wine labels in French.
  Still working on it …
