Svenskt biografiskt lexikon

Svenskt biografiskt lexikon (SBL), is a reference work and an important source of information for genealogists and personal historians. It contains biographies of prominent deceased Swedes and brief articles on famous families. Publication started in 1917 and so far 29 volumes have appeared (Abelin-Rettig). Since 1962 it is published by a government body and is the second largest reference work in Scandinavia. When completed around 2015, the SBL is estimated to comprise 38 volumes.

How to use the disc

The disc is located on a CD-ROM server situated at the Computing Centre. It's available from PCs connected to the network at Åbo Akademi University. The files are in PDF format and can be viewed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader™ program. The texts on the CD disc are in Swedish.
