To perform a search in the search form

  1. Move the cursor to the field on which you want to search by clicking on the corresponding row
  2. Enter the search term and press Return or click on "Search"
  3. You can use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard. You can truncate words on the left side and on the right side
  4. Click on "Titles" in the "Result" window. You will now get a new window called "Titles"
  5. Double click on the document you want to get detailed information (title of journal, authors) on
  6. Click on <- and -> respectively to browse the hits

Go back using one of these methods

  • Press the Esc key
  • Via the alternative "Windows" in the menu
  • Close the window by clicking on the upper left corner of the window and choosing "Close", or by double clicking on the upper left corner

To start a new search

  • Select "File" -> "New Search" in the menu
  • Select "Windows" -> "Searchform" in the menu

To qualify a search with keywords

  • If you enter your search term in the Free text field the search will be performed in all fields
  • You can narrow down your search by using index terms and subject terms

Index terms

  • Enter a search term in a field on the search form and click on Index
  • Double click on an index term in the "Index" window in order to transfer it to the search form
  • Click on "Search" in the "Searchform" window

Subject terms

  • There may be some good references in the search result? Check what keywords have been used in these documents, and use the same keywords in a new search
  • Highlight or double click on the keyword(s) that you found interesting
  • Click on "Search"

To combine search terms by using the Boolean operators and/or/not

  1. Perform a search in the search form
  2. Enter the second search term in the search form, but do not click on "Search"
  3. Click on "And" (the document must contain both search terms), on "Or" (the document must contain either the first search term or the second, or both), or on "Not" (the document must contain the first search term but not the second term)

Printouts

To print selected documents on the hit list

  • Click on the document you want a printout of
  • Mark the document by pressing the space bar. The document will be marked with an *
  • Click on the next document you want to include in the printout, and mark it by pressing the space bar
  • Select "File" -> "Print" -> "Marked documents" in the menu

To print all documents on the hit list

  • Select "File" -> "Print" -> "Titles" in the menu

To print all documents including bibliographical data

  • Select "File" -> "Print"-> "Selected documents" in the menu

Move to the database Alma for requesting journals from the stacks.
