Culture and Society
Besides the Swedish teaching proper, a Culture and Society

different topics. The lectures are given in Swedish. For example
Swedish film: You get better acquainted with Swedish
film and decide which films are to be shown in the evenings
during the course.
Swedish-Finns: You will be given a lecture on the
Swedish-speakers in Finland and learn more about the subtle
differences between different forms of Swedish.
The Church of Finström: We will visit the lovely
church nearby and learn about its interesting history.
Children’s literature: You will learn about Swedish
children’s literature and get many exciting tips on reading.
Folk music: During a short introduction to
Swedish-Finnish folk music you will also learn how to dance
schottis and even play the violin.
In Asgård: By a chance you are suddenly transported to
Asgård where the mythological gods lived during the prehistoric
age and you are situated right in the middle of it all.
Cursing in Swedish: Why, how and when do you curse in
Swedish? During the lecture you will learn how to swear and
curse credibly.
Swedish songs: You will get to know the Swedish song
tradition, the singers and composers. Maybe you know them and
sing along, maybe you discover new favorites.
You will also go craw fishing and take part in a
crawfish-party, an important tradition amongs all Swedish
speakers. In addition to this, you will be able to experience
the Finnish sauna, take a sightseeing trip, go biking and so on.
