The 21st Finnish Summer School on Probability Theory will be arranged at Lahti from May 31 to June 4, 1999.

Speakers: Alejandro de Acosta, Steve Marron, Pál Révész, Rudolf (Rolf) Riedi

• Alejandro de Acosta (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland) Lectures on the theory of large deviations.
• Steve Marron (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) Statistical Smoothing and Functional Data Analysis.
• Pál Révész (Technische Universität Wien and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) Branching Wiener process in R^d and Covering large domains by a Wiener process.
• Rudolf (Rolf) Riedi (Rice University, Houston) Multifractal analysis.

More information and lecture abstracts will be distributed in April - May. There is no participation fee, but we need to limit the number of participants to about 30.
