Curriculum vitae:
Born in Helsingfors 1926. Fil.dr. Helsinki University 1959. Research at
the MIT Van de Graaff in Cambridge USA 1960. Nuclear energy training at
the International Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering at Argonne
National Laboratory Oct. 1960 to June 1961.
Professor of physics and head of the accelerator laboratory at the
Åbo Akademi University 1966-1991, 1974-1989. Chief physicist of the
University Central Hospital Radiotherapy Clinic in Helsinki 1962 - 1966
Memberships:
Finnish Society of Sciences and Letter, Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences
in Finland, Councels for the laboratory for medical technique 1976-1978,
and the research reactor at the Technical Research Centre of Finland
1972-1978. Member of the CERN-committee 1969-1970, and the board of the Committee
for High Energy Physics at the Helsinki University 1989-1991
Recent research:
Nuclear reactions, alpha particle resonances , alpha
particle transfer., alpha cluster states. Hot topic: Resonant
non-squential decay of sulphur at high excitation in four alpha
particles and oxygen .
Applied physics research: The use of a cyclotron to analyse paint in 18th
century furniture and internal painting.
