Travel
Turku is located on the south-west coast of Finland,
approximately 170 km west of Helsinki. It is the country's oldest city
and in 2011 will be the European Capital of Culture.
The main travel connections are as follows:
Flights: Turku's international airport is located 10 km north of the city centre. For more information, see Finavia's website.
Train: A train trip from
Helsinki to Turku takes less than two hours. The timetables and
the prices can be found at the Finnish
railway (VR) website.
Coach: A coach trip from Helsinki airport takes
approximately two hours. The timetables and ticket prices can be
found at the Matkahuolto website.
Boat: It is also possible to take
a ferry from Stockholm to Turku. The trip takes 8-12 hours, depending
on the route since some ferries make a stopover at the Åland
Islands. The two biggest
companies with ferry traffic between Stockholm and Turku
are Tallink Silja and Viking Line. The timetables can be

useful travel information on Turku.

Accommodation
Participants are asked to make their own
hotel reservations. At the Centro Hotel we
have arranged a special rate for the symposium of €76 per
night for a single room or €86 for a twin room. If you wish to
take advantage
of this, you should use the reservation code which we will
give you when you register for the symposium.
There are many other hotels you can use as well. The
City of Turku website has a list of hotels in Turku, and below is a
list of some of the hotels that are within a
reasonable walking distance of the venue
